Recently, Palgrave MacMillan, aleadinginternational academic publisher, has released two English monographs authored by Professor Edmund Li Sheng,distinguishedprofessorattheSchool of Political Science and Public Administration ofShandong University andexecutivedirector oftheInstitute ofShanghai Cooperation OrganizationStudies.
Titled "Greater Eurasia Partnership and Belt and Road Initiative-The Cooperation or Containment of Atlanticism in the International System," the first monograph delves into how China's Belt and Road Initiativeconnectwith Russia's Greater Eurasia Partnership, starting from Russia's "eastward" inspired by the latter. The Greater Eurasian Partnership proposed by Russia is an initiative with specific diplomatic considerations, economic development strategies, and geopolitical implications, whichrepresents an attempt by Russia to shift foreign policy thinking. To connectthese two major initiatives by China and Russiacontainsboth short-term strategies to cope with Western pressure and long-term strategic goals for building a new international and regional order.
