On the afternoon of May 25, the 42nd lecture of the "Cooperation and Development" Series took place at Qingdao Campus of Shandong University. The event was jointly hosted by the School of Political Science and Public Administration, the Institute of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Institute of Public Security, and the China-SCO School of Economics and Trade of Shandong University.


The lecture invited Jiang Yaoping, Former Vice Minister of Commerce, as the keynote speaker, with the theme Research on the Development Ideas and Practical Paths of Digital Trade within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Professor Edmund Sheng Li, Executive Director of the Institute of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, presided over the lecture. Teachers, students and think tank experts from relevant disciplines attended the academic exchange activity.

Based on the development course of digital trade in the SCO, combined with the global digital economic landscape and the practical experience of Chinese cross-border e-commerce going global, Jiang Yaoping thoroughly analyzed the strategic value of digital trade in regional economic integration, industrial coordination and brand building. He pointed out that digital trade serves not only as a new engine for economic growth, but also as a key starting point for regional cooperation and industrial upgrading. From the perspectives of policy communication, innovation-driven development, rule coordination, collaborative security governance, talent training and international cooperation, he comprehensively elaborated on the development strategies and practical experience of SCO digital trade.

At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Ma Ben, Dean of the School of Political Science and Public Administration, extended a warm welcome to Jiang Yaoping and expressed gratitude for his support for academic exchanges and research practice. During the interactive discussion session, teachers, students and participating experts exchanged in-depth views on hot topics such as the cross-border e-commerce ecosystem, industrial cluster coordination and mutual recognition of regional rules.

In his concluding remarks, Professor Edmund Sheng Li noted that the lecture embraced both a macro strategic vision and micro case analysis, fully reflecting the in-depth integration of theory and practice. He emphasized that the lecture has provided faculty and students with new perspectives on digital trade research and offered exemplary experience for future think tank studies.


The lecture provided a valuable opportunity for teachers and students to have face-to-face exchanges with experts in international digital trade, injecting new ideas and impetus into their academic research and practical exploration.
