On December 16th, a delegation led by Xing Zhanjun, Assistant President of Shandong University and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Qingdao Campus, visited Shandong Port Group for exchange talks. Huo Gaoyuan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Shandong Port Group, attended the meeting.
Xing Zhanjun introduced Shandong University's disciplinary advantages, talent reserves, and overall achievements in serving local development. He stated that the university and Shandong Port Group share common missions in major strategic tasks such as the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin, and the construction of the SCO Demonstration Zone. There is broad room for cooperation in fields including marine engineering equipment, artificial intelligence, and green and low-carbon development. He expressed expectations that both parties will leverage their respective strengths to establish a regular cooperation mechanism, empower the upgrading of the port industry through technological innovation and think tank support, and contribute jointly to the development of new quality productive forces in the region.
Huo Gaoyuan highly praised Shandong University's educational strength and effectiveness in serving the local community. He elaborated on Shandong Port Group's prominent advantages in the construction of smart and green ports, comprehensive supply chain services, and infrastructure upgrading. He noted that the two parties have strong complementarity in multiple key areas, particularly in meeting the needs of serving the construction of the SCO Demonstration Zone and promoting cross-border logistics development. He hoped that taking this forum as an opportunity, both sides will deepen pragmatic cooperation and jointly build an innovation platform for the in-depth integration of production, education, research and application.
As the core think tank of the university serving the SCO strategy, the SCO Research Institute of Shandong University will rely on its research resources and platform advantages to play a professional supporting role in relevant cooperation, and assist in the coordinated development of the university and the port group in fields related to SCO regional cooperation.
Prior to the meeting, Xing Zhanjun and his entourage visited the exhibition hall of Shandong Port Group. Han Enze, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of Shandong Port Group, Gao Rui, Vice President of Qingdao Campus of Shandong University, as well as relevant responsible persons from Shandong Port Group, the Qingdao Service Office of Shandong University, and the SCO Research Institute of Shandong University attended the forum.
