Hosted by the Party School of the CPC Qingdao Municipal Committee (Qingdao Administration Institute), the Seminar on "Focusing on Local Economic and Trade Cooperation, Seizing Comprehensive Reform Opportunities to Promote the High-Quality Development of the SCO Demonstration Zone" was held in Jiaozhou, Qingdao. Edmund Sheng, Distinguished Professor of Shandong University, Distinguished Expert of the Taishan Scholars Program, and Executive Director of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Research Institute, was invited to attend.
At the seminar, Edmund Sheng delivered a keynote speech titled "SCO Demonstration Zone: Practice and Exploration in Building a New Platform for International Cooperation". He pointed out that against the backdrop of profound adjustments in the global governance structure, the Qingdao SCO Demonstration Zone holds important strategic value for practicing the "Belt and Road" Initiative and promoting regional economic integration. He also analyzed the specific practices of the SCO Demonstration Zone in exploring new paths for international cooperation from three dimensions: basic conditions, platform construction, and value release. At the end of his speech, Edmund Sheng looked forward to the new breakthroughs that the SCO Demonstration Zone is expected to achieve in the fields of digital, green, and blue economies in the future, contributing Shandong University's solutions and wisdom to its efforts in seizing comprehensive reform opportunities and building a new benchmark for international cooperation under the "Belt and Road" Initiative.
