On October 24, the 13th Shandong University Model United Nations Conference kicked off at the Qingdao Campus. Liu Yan, Director of the Student Affairs Department of the Party Working Committee and Secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee of Shandong University Qingdao Campus, Li Haiyan, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Political Science and Public Administration of Shandong University, and Edmund Sheng, Distinguished Professor of Shandong University and Executive Dean of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Research Institute, attended the opening ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Ma Guilan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Political Science and Public Administration of Shandong University.

In her speech, Li Haiyan stated that the School of Political Science and Public Administration of Shandong University has long been committed to cutting-edge research in global governance and public policy. It actively promotes interdisciplinary integration and the cultivation of international talents, and has achieved remarkable results in various Model United Nations activities. She hoped that the young students participating in the conference would take this Model United Nations Conference as an opportunity to actively engage in discussions and consultations on various topics. Through practical ideological exchanges and the collision of wisdom, they could provide feasible ideas and solutions for addressing global governance issues, actively promote the research on the mutual learning of diverse cultures and civilizations, and contribute more youth wisdom and responsibility to the lofty cause of human peace and development.

Liu Yan presented the gavel to the Secretary-General of the 13th Shandong University Model United Nations Conference, marking the official launch of the conference.

Ma Guilan presented plaques to the representatives of the academic teams of the conference committees.

The conference specially invited Professor Edmund Sheng to give a thematic lecture to the participants.

The 13th Shandong University Model United Nations Conference was co-hosted by the Student Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Center of Shandong University, the Student Affairs Department of the Party Working Committee of Shandong University Qingdao Campus, and the School of Political Science and Public Administration of Shandong University, and undertaken by the Model United Nations Association of Shandong University. It attracted more than 160 teachers and student representatives from over ten universities across the country. With the theme of "Five Continents in Sync, Hundreds of Rivers Working Together to Paint a New Picture of a Shared Future", the conference adheres to the core concept of seeking common ground while reserving differences and pursuing win-win cooperation. It has set up two Chinese-speaking venues and two English-speaking venues, creating a platform for full communication among participants and jointly promoting the in-depth development of international understanding and cooperation.
