On September 28, 2025, Shandong University held a group lesson preparation meeting for the "Situation and Policy" course in the first semester of the 2025-2026 academic year. Ma Mingchong, Vice Dean of the School of Marxism, and Edmund Sheng, Distinguished Professor of the School of Political Science and Public Administration, delivered special guidance reports respectively. Ren Wei, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee, and Li Juan, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Department of the Party Working Committee of Qingdao Campus, presided over the meeting respectively.

At the meeting, Professor Ma Mingchong delivered a report titled "Commemorating the Victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and Strengthening National Conviction". Centering on four aspects—remembering history, the nation's magnificent feats, the spiritual monument, and forging ahead into the future—he profoundly interpreted the theoretical essence and spiritual connotation of "drawing nourishment from the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression". He emphasized that teachers should take the initiative to innovate teaching methods, focus on guidance and interaction to enhance teaching affinity; closely align with the disciplinary and professional characteristics of the classes they teach, and attach importance to "personalized" lesson preparation; and actively guide students to inherit and carry forward the great spirit of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, integrate their personal ideals and pursuits into the cause of the country and the nation, and encourage students to be down-to-earth and pursue excellence in both study and practice.

Professor Edmund Sheng gave a report themed "Practicing Multilateralism and Improving Global Governance". Focusing on three major sections—the international situation characterized by intertwined changes and chaos, international consensus on global governance, and China's answer to the questions of the times—he used cases, data, and comparisons to focus on key areas such as safeguarding international peace and security, and profoundly expounded the core view that "only by upholding multilateralism can we forge lasting peace". He pointed out that teachers should keep pace with the times, appropriately use forms popular among students such as film and television, and interviews, to explain theories in innovative and effective ways.

The meeting emphasized that the "Situation and Policy" course is a key course for implementing the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. Teachers should give full play to their enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity, pay attention to the times and society, draw nourishment, and enrich their thinking. The meeting required that, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, all teachers should teach each "Situation and Policy" class with dedication, passion, and effort. They should strive to clearly and thoroughly explain the situation, and deeply and vividly interpret the policies, so as to strengthen the foundation of faith for students, replenish their spiritual "calcium", and cultivate Shandong University students who bravely take on responsibilities in the construction of Chinese modernization.
This lesson preparation meeting was held in the form of a cross-campus holographic real-time interactive live broadcast. Participants included secretaries of the Party committees, deans, deputy secretaries of the Party committees, key counselors, and part-time ideological and political theory course teachers from colleges at the Jinan Main Campus and Qingdao Campus that undertake the teaching tasks of the "Situation and Policy" course this semester.
