Recently, the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs co-hosted a roundtable discussion focusing on key initiatives proposed at the 25th Meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State and the "SCO Plus" conference. Edmund Li Sheng, Distinguished Professor at Shandong University and Executive Dean of the SCO Research Institute, was invited to attend the meeting.
At the meeting, experts and scholars from the CIIS, the Development Research Center of the State Council, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, and Fudan University engaged in in-depth discussions on the implementation of these initiatives. Based on practical perspectives, Sheng proposed a series of targeted and actionable policy recommendations, contributing "Shandong University's wisdom" to the improvement of the SCO cooperation mechanism.
During the meeting, Sheng held practical exchanges with SCO Secretary-General Yermekbayev, Deputy Secretaries-General Kopelov, Tursunov, Park Yang-fan, and participating experts, exchanging views on issues such as innovation in regional cooperation mechanisms and cross-civilization dialogue pathways.
The meeting, serving as an authoritative platform, highlighted the academic influence of Shandong University in regional and international studies, and demonstrated the School of Politics and Public Administration of Shandong University's commitment to serving national strategic priorities.
