On the morning ofApril2, 2024, the7th lecture of the “Cooperation and Development” series, jointly organized by the School of Political Science and Public Administration at Shandong University, the Institute of SCO Studies of Shandong University, the Institute for Public Safety Research of Shandong University, was successfully held at the meeting room S436 on the fourth floor of Huagangyuan South Building. This lecture is themed "Russia and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area", and it is delivered by Professor Michael Barry Share, an Emeritus Professor of the Department of History at the University of Hong Kong, a Visiting Professor at Hong Kong Baptist University, and an internationally renowned expert on Russian issues. The lecture was chaired by Professor Edmund Li Sheng, Distinguished Professor at the School of Political Science and Public Administration and Executive Dean of the Institute of SCO Studies, Shandong University. Faculty members and students from the School of Political Science and Public Administration participated in the academic exchange and discussion.

Before the start of the lecture, Professor Edmund Li Sheng presented the letter of appointment as a senior research fellow of the InstituteofShanghai Cooperation OrganizationStudiesof Shandong University to Professor Share, and expressed that academic exchanges and cooperation will be further strengthened in the future.
At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Share recounted his relevant work experiences that led to his engagement in this research, especially his 15-year tenure as the director and consultant of the Russian Center. Subsequently, he systematically sorted out the changes in the relations and the evolution of policies between the Soviet Union/Russia and the regions of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan of China since the late 19th century, revealing that the interactions between the Soviet Union/Russia and these regions are closely related to the extensive and complex international relations among China, the United Kingdom, Japan and the United States. Professor Edmund Li Sheng believed that Professor Share's research is of great enlightenment significance for how to deepen the cooperation between Russia and China in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area today.

In the interactive communication session, the students had a heated discussion with Professor Share on topics such as Russia's policy towards China, the Russia-Ukraine war, and counter-terrorism. At the end of the lecture, Professor Edmund Li Sheng summarized the meeting and once again expressed his gratitude for Professor Share's wonderful speech.
