On November 14, the Second “Global South” Think Tank Dialogue, themed "The Global South: Equality, Openness, and Cooperation," opened in Nanjing. The Dialogue was jointly hosted by the CPC International Liaison Department, the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, and the Chinese Council for Cooperation among BRICS Think Tanks. Liu Jianchao, Director of the CPC International Liaison Department, and Xin Changxing, Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, attended the event. Over 400 participants, including think tank scholars and political party representatives from more than 100 emerging markets and developing countries, as well as representatives from relevant domestic departments, universities, and think tanks, attended the Dialogue in person.
During the Dialogue, in order to implement the important initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping at the BRICS Plus Leaders' Dialogue in Kazan, Russia, the "Global South" Think Tank Cooperation Alliance was officially established at the Second "Global South" Think Tank Dialogue. Led by the CPC International Liaison Department, the Alliance was jointly initiated by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China Media Group, and other units, in collaboration with think tanks and universities both domestically and internationally.
ProfessorEdmund Li Shengand Associate Researcher Fang Jiongsheng from the School of Political Scienceand Public Administration, Shandong University, were invited to participate in the Dialogue and engaged in extensive exchanges and discussions with guests from think tanks in the Global South. The School of Political Scienceand Public Administration, Shandong University, was also invited to join the "Global South" Think Tank Cooperation Alliance.


In recent years, the School of Political Scienceand Public Administration at Shandong University has identified the "Global South" as a new growth point for research, building and strengthening its research capabilities. It has focused on enhancing the research focus of four registered regional and country studies centers under the Ministry of Education on the "Global South," establishing a new Latin American Research Center under the Asia-Pacific Research Institute, and promoting the establishment ofthe Institute of SCO Studiesat Shandong University in 2022 to serve the construction of the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Zone. Taking the opportunity of joining the "Global South" Think Tank Cooperation Alliance, the School of Political Scienceand Public Administration will strengthen close exchanges and cooperation with practical departments, domestic sister universities, foreign universities and research institutions, and think tanks in the "Global South," contributing Shandong University's wisdom to the joint efforts of "Global South" countries in building a community with a shared future for mankind.
