Recently, a series of activities of the Global South Think Tank Dialogue kicked off in Xiamen, China. Professor Edmund Li Sheng, Distinguished Professor at the School of Political Science and Public Administration, and the Executive Dean of the Institute of SCO Studies, Shandong University, was invited to attend.

On November 1st, at the annual meeting of the Chinese Council for BRICS Think Tank Cooperation, the School of Political Science and Public Administration of Shandong University was elected as a member unit of the Chinese Council for BRICS Think Tank Cooperation.The Global South Think Tank Dialogue themed "Global South:Working Together to AdvanceModernization" held on November 2nd was jointly hosted by the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the People's Government of Fujian Province, and the Chinese Council for BRICS Think Tank Cooperation. More than 300 people participated, including think tank scholars, political party representatives, representatives of people from the business community from more than 50 emerging market and developing countries such as Brazil, Russia, India, and South Africa, as well as representatives from domestic universities and think tanks.Professor Edmund Li Sheng shared his personal research findings with the participants on the alignment between the Belt and Road Initiative and the BRICS mechanism at the sub-forum of the dialogue, "Building the BRICS Cooperation Mechanism and Unleashing the Potential of South-South Cooperation".Professor Edmund Li Sheng also visited the BRICS Innovation Base in Fujian and the research and practice platform for the Belt and Road Initiative, and had extensive exchanges with experts and scholars in relevant fields.

This series of activities of the Global South Think Tank Dialogue has provided a communication platform for a large number of developing countries including China. It is conducive to promoting unity among southern countries and driving just, equal and sustainable development in the world. Professor Edmund Li Sheng's participation and discussion have injected the wisdom of Shandong University into the joint exploration by China and developing countries of a new path to modernization that conforms to their national conditions and the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
