On the morning of October 29th, the 18th lecture of the Cooperation and Development series, jointly hosted by the School of Politics and Public Administration of Shandong University, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Institute of Shandong University, the Institute for Public Safety Research of Shandong University, and the China-SCO Business and Trade Institute, was successfully held in the meeting room on the fourth floor of the South Building of Huagangyuan. The theme of this lecture was "Greenland as a Partner - Arctic Strategy and Policy," presented by Jacob Isbosethsen, an internationally renowned expert on Arctic continental shelf issues and Greenland's representative in China and East Asia. Professor Sheng Li, a distinguished professor at the School of Politics and Public Administration of Shandong University and Executive Dean of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Institute, presided over the lecture, with participation from faculty and students of the School of Politics and Public Administration, the School of Law, the Institute of Marine Science and Technology, and Ocean University of China in this academic exchange and discussion.

At the beginning of the lecture, Jacob Isbosethsen provided a detailed overview of Greenland. As the largest island in the world, Greenland boasts rich natural resources, a unique cultural heritage, and a distinctive political development journey. Subsequently, Jacob Isbosethsen shared Greenland's foreign and security policies, emphasizing its important position in the Arctic region and its proactive attitude in international cooperation. He also outlined the core elements of Greenland's Arctic strategy, including strengthening cooperation with other Arctic countries, developing infrastructure such as Arctic shipping routes, promoting sustainable development in the Arctic region, and maintaining peace and security in the Arctic. Finally, Jacob Isbosethsen provided valuable insights for cooperation between China and Greenland in the Arctic region by sharing successful cases of Greenland's responses to climate change, ecological environment protection, and green energy development.

During the interactive Q&A session, faculty and students engaged in lively discussions on topics such as opportunities and challenges posed by climate change in Greenland, cooperation in the development of characteristic industries, and responses to international conflicts. Professor Sheng Li expressed gratitude to Jacob Isbosethsen for his presence and insightful sharing, noting that China and Greenland have broad prospects for cooperation in the Arctic, which is not only a win-win partnership based on economic interests but also a cooperation focused on the long-term development of the Arctic region.
