Graduated from Leningrad(St. Petersburg)State University with a Ph.D. inPhysics.He taught at Kyrgyz National University(KNU)from 1981 to 2001 as a senior professor,andthenhas served as a member of the board of trustees ofKNU since then.Between 2001 and 2015,Hehasheld significant positions at Philips, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and in Kyrgyzstan. Currently, he is a Distinguished Professor at the Belt and Road School of Beijing Normal University and a Senior Researcher at Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China. He is a renowned expert on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, having authored books such asCentral Asia’s Economic Rebirth in the Shadow of the New Great Game. He frequently grants interviews to China Global Television Network(CGTN)and writes commentaries for China Daily.
