His research areasencompassSoutheast Asian regional studies and Southeast Asian history, with a particular focus on Vietnamese history,Sino-Vietnamese relationship history, China's relations with Southeast Asia, and overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia. He has hosted and undertakenmajorspecialprojects under the“Neglected Disciplines and Country-Specific History ResearchProjects”approvedNational Social Science Fund, projectsapprovedby the Humanities and Social Sciences Fund of the Ministry of Education, and projectsapprovedby theGuangdong Planning Office ofPhilosophy and Social Sciences. He has published two monographs, edited or co-edited three volumes, collated four ancientbooks, and published over 40 papers in domestic and international journals such asWorld History,Southeast Asian Studies, andSoutheast Asian Affairs.
